MANAWA KEUKEU ORA
Māramatanga: To move, shift, stir, activate, budge, shake; to pull a trigger, or to trigger something causing shock and abrupt change. Also linked to the origin and creation story of Tikiāhua in Hawaiki.
Ngā Āhuatanga: This Manawa supports the theory and principle of hapū, iwi, and hapori Māori asserting their rights and power to heal, to overcome historical harm and intergenerational trauma. This Manawa seeks to empower hapū, iwi, and hapori Māori to challenge the Colonial power structures that continue to oppress and suppress their people today through activism, abrupt change, restoration, revitalisation, and reclamation using theories and philosophies of resistance, struggle, and survival.
Hapori: Focuses on hapū, iwi, and hapori Māori reframing European Colonialism as Cultural Genocide. It also underscores the effects and impacts today on hapū, iwi, and hapori Māori with other factors such as decolonisation, hegemony, Mana Motuhake, Tino Rangatiratanga, Te Whakaminenga, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and Treaty settlements. It also highlights the process of reclaiming, restoring, reawakening of language and culture, for hapū, iwi, and hapori Māori with other Indigenous Peoples around the world.
