Jemaima Tiatia-Siau is the Co-Head and Associate Professor of the School, Te Wānanga o Waipapa Taumata Rau, School of Māori Studies and Pacific Studies, and Pro-Vice Chancellor Pacific at the University of Auckland. She is of Samoan descent and has a public health background. She was one of six panellists on the New Zealand Government's 2018 Mental Health and Addiction Inquiry. Dr Jemaima specialises in the study, research, and teaching of Pacific suicide prevention and postvention, mental health and wellbeing, youth development, Pacific Studies, Pacific health, and inequities. 

Jemaima was also a former provincial and national player in women’s rugby league, basketball, touch rugby, tag, and waka ama. She tells us her story.
